Burnley vs Everton
This is a huge six pointer in this double match week for both sides. Both are desperate for a win. Four points separate the two
sides, with the following fixture against bottom of the table Norwich, this is the best chance the Clarets have of getting out of the relegation zone.
Burnley haven’t scored in their last four games and are averaging two goals conceded in their last five. This won’t be an easy game for them, but they’ll have the best chance of scoring against an Everton side that have not kept a clean sheet away from home since August.
The return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be a huge boost to Everton if he can find some sort of form. Obviously, injuries have marred his season. We know he is a top-quality striker on the day, so hopefully he can pick himself up and carry the Toffees out of trouble.
With Everton’s next five games all coming against elite opposition. This is a must-win game for them. It’s hard to see them picking up any sort of points after this fixture. Lampard’s men will have to dig in deep.
They also need to address their discipline. They’ve received a red card in the past three league games, including their captain getting sent off in the last game.
Burnley’s fixture run is a lot more enticing; they only face one of the current top six, twice. Obviously, this is a crucial game for Burnley but there will be more chances for them to grab some points against the likes of Norwich, Watford, Southampton and Newcastle.
If Everton don’t win this, they will get relegated. Frankly, they deserve it after this season. With how essential this game is, we’re going to side with an Everton win. No matter what you think the outcome of this game will be. As a neutral, it should be a cracker to watch.
