FURY VS WHYTE! Boxing Preview!

Tyson Fury

After coming off three amazing fights with Deontay Wilder, with each fight The Gypsy King, Fury (31- 0 – 1) was looking better and better, is finally back where he belongs fighting in the UK!

Although Fury did get dropped early on in the most recent fights with Wilder, Fury came through in the latter rounds to end the fight with a devastating knockout to secure his defence of his WBC heavyweight title. It is an important point to mention that Fury was able to come back from adversary because he is now up against another heavy-handed heavyweight, The body snatcher Dillian Whyte who has an impressive 19 knockouts in his 30 professional fights.

Dillian Whyte

As for the heavyweight contender, Dillan Whyte (28 – 2) has the opportunity to shock the world this weekend in the heavyweight brawl with champion Fury. Whyte’s last outing was over 12 months ago in which he landed a great knockout victory of another top heavyweight, Alexander Povetkin (36 – 3 – 1). Whyte here won the WBC interim heavyweight title which made him mandatory for this fight. If anyone is the definition of a yard dog in this heavyweight division, it is certainly Whyte. He has the ability to cause a serious upset as he looks to take the WBC belt straight from Fury’s hands in what Fury has said will be his last ever fight. If Fury shows any signs of taking his foot off the gas, then you can guarantee that Whyte will be smiling and swinging bombs across the ring. The technique may not be pretty but be sure he hits like a truck.

Interestingly Whyte may have been trying to play mind games prior to the fight by not attending any of the press conferences and continuing his training camp out in Portugal with no interruptions, but if this was the plan then maybe it didn’t work because Fury saw this as Whyte ‘showing the white flag’.

The Prediction

Ok let’s get one thing straight, Fury is the betting favourite (1/3), and rightly so. He has arguably fought tougher fighters and is yet to ever be beaten. Despite being dropped several times by the hardest hitting heavyweight to ever grace the ring in Wilder.

If you’re someone that thinks Whyte has no chance then maybe you need to watch more of Whyte’s fights, he stands 6 ft 4inches and that is 6’4 of a man who is out to prove a point with absolutely nothing to lose here. As mentioned earlier, Whyte has finished 19 of 28 wins and is renowned for his heavy body shots and devastating left hook.

Fury has several advantages going into this fight, he is the taller man at 6’9, he has the bigger reach and has a very unorthodox technique in which no previous boxer has been able to figure out to date which may just pay dividends this weekend.

Now we do suspect that Fury will ride off in the sunset and retire undefeated and still champion after this weekend, he will need to maintain his distance and control the ring from the outside early on as Whyte will try to close the distance with shortened shots. Don’t forget that Fury has the legendary trainer Sugar Hill Steward in his corner who has been bringing the more aggressive boxer out of Fury who we think will look for the finish in the second half of the fight after wearing Whyte’s gas tank out, Fury will need to pick his shots to make sure he doesn’t get clipped early here, we do think it likely that if he does get clipped he will go down but as always his heart, boxing IQ and desire to win will be enough to get back up, shake it off and finish the fight with a stoppage.

Fury to win by knockout rounds 6 – 10.
