Super Pacific Rugby! Week 8 Preview!

Highlanders vs Moana Pasifika ( Round 5)

This matchup between the two sides sitting firmly on the bottom of the league could be a blockbuster. The Highlanders are winless so far this season so should be going all out here to get their first win.

Pasifika have one win under their belt, a historic win against the Hurricanes a few weeks ago. They’ve suffered two back-to-back losses since then and will be looking to bounce back with a win here.

The Highlanders concede an average of 27 points a game, Pasifika concede an average of 38. Hopefully we see a lot of tries scored.

Western Force vs Rebels (Round 8)

The Force were impressive in their last game against the Brumbies, narrowly missing out on the win. They’ll be eager to come out and prove themselves against a struggling Rebels side

Last time the two teams met the Force won convincingly (28-3). From the eye test, the Rebels have been improving. A win over the Drua was a nice reward for their efforts. Hopefully with both sides settled into bit more of a rhythm, we have a high scoring game.

Hurricanes vs Crusaders

The Hurricanes are coming off back-to-back losses and don’t face an easy job in turning the tables against a very strong Crusaders side who have only lost once so far this season.

Historically, these have been great games. The last five clashes having at least 49 points. The most recent having a whopping 74. This should be a cracking game to watch, especially with the likes of Savea, Barrett and Reece all on display.

Chiefs vs Blues

After losing their opening game of the season to the Hurricanes, the Blues are on a five-game win streak. They’ll be looking to extend it to six against a Chiefs side that won’t make it easy. After a narrow two-point loss to the Blues the last time the sides met this season, the Chiefs will be looking for revenge.

Fijian Drua vs Brumbies

The Brumbies suffered their first loss of the season last week against the Reds. I’m sure the loss was hard to take but they’ll have the perfect rebound game against the Drua. On paper, this should be a walk in the park for the Aussie side. However, the Fijian Drua, much like the Fijian 7s side, are capable of playing some scintillating rugby. But we think they will lack that class and experience to get a result against the well-oiled machine that is the Brumbies.
